How to install conn-tools

Like any other piece of software (and information generally), conn-tools comes with NO WARRANTY.

Requirements

System

• A Unix-like system

Build-time

• A standard C development environment
• The skalibs package, version 0.45 or higher.
• The execline package, version 1.06 or higher.

Run-time

• The execline package, version 1.06 or higher.
• The skaembutils package, version 0.17 or higher.

Installation

conn-tools follows the slashpackage convention.

• Create a /package directory:

       mkdir -p /package
       chmod 1755 /package
       cd /package
  

• Download the latest version of conn-tools, conn-tools-0.21.tar.gz, into /package.
• Unpack the conn-tools package:

       tar -zxpvf conn-tools-0.21.tar.gz
       # if you do not have GNU tar, check with your gunzip and tar manual pages.
       rm conn-tools-0.21.tar.gz
       cd net/conn-tools-0.21
  

• If you want to use another compiler and linker than the default, edit conf-compile/conf-cc and conf-compile/conf-ld as needed. In particular, if your libc allows it, you should try static compilation.
• Then compile and set up conn-tools:

       package/install
  

  or perform package/compile to compile the binaries, then look into the command/ subdirectory and copy the binaries where you need them.
• To report success :

  	 cat package/name package/version compile/export/sysdeps | mail ska-sysdeps@skarnet.org
  

• You can then delete the compile subdirectory to save disk space.
