Information for mirror makers

If you want to mirror this site, please use, by decreasing order of preference:

• rsync. A suitable command line for rsync-ing this server is:

    rsync -vacuz --delete rsync://rsync.skarnet.org/www.skarnet.org/ /path/to/your/mirror
  

• an FTP tool that uses passive mode and understands the EPLF format; such a tool is ftpcopy. The whole site is reachable at ftp://ftp.skarnet.org/skarnet.org/.

Please do not attempt a recursive websuck of that site. This could be very dangerous for your client machine if your Web sucker does not follow the standards to the letter. Contact me if you need further information.

Automatic mirror update

You can set up automatic updating to avoid unneeded transfers.

• Install ucspi-tcp.
• Install execline.
• Install minnotify.
• Set up the rsync-skarnet.org service, with a run file such as

  fdmove -c 2 1
  emptyenv -p
  setuidgid your-id
  tcpserver -vRHl0 -x tcp.cdb your-IP your-port
  minnotifyd
  redirfd -r 0 /dev/null
  fdmove -c 1 2
  rsync -vacuz --delete rsync://rsync.skarnet.org/www.skarnet.org/ /path/to/your/mirror
  

  tcp.cdb must allow connections from 212.85.147.14 and should deny other source IPs.
• Send me mail indicating that you want to mirror www.skarnet.org, and expliciting your-IP and your-port.
• Whenever the site has changed, a notification will be sent to your rsync-skarnet.org service, which will update your mirror automatically.
• You can do that if you're using FTP instead of rsync; however, I kindly ask you to switch to rsync, to be network-friendly.
