RE: runit maintenance / development

Glad to hear Gerrit. We've officially launched the Runit-for-LFS project on GoogleCode. We're hoping to get everything chugging away.

The move to Runit from sysvinit has been troublesome as a lot of services still only have sysvinit scripts, but the backwards compatibility of Runit has made it a lot easier.

We're currently in need of a lot of help, and we want to branch Runit out to other distributions once LFS is stabilized.

Thanks for the write back Gerrit. If any new developments are ever underway let us know.

Nice! I'd like to see runit as an alternative init system in Debian,
but there're hurdles, such as sysvinit backward compatibility I actually
don't want to see in runit.

I'm around and actively using runit on many machines. We have some
known minor bugs since years, but there's currently nothing that really
needs to be fixed or changed.

That said, I think about further developing runit every here and then.
The still existing interest in this project actually feels motivating.

Regards, Gerrit.
